Students with disabilities coming into a postsecondary educational institution such as Truman should be aware of their rights and responsibilities, and how they differ from those of a high school student. High schools are required by law under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to identify students with disabilities and determine what special provisions the student needs, and provide them. This is not the case in postsecondary schools. Students with disabilities at Truman that wish to have special accommodations must disclose this to Disability Services. In addition, services and accommodations that were appropriate at the high-school level may not be applicable at a postsecondary institution.
